Colin Heaney's glass blowing
studio is located in Byron Bay,
on the sub-tropical far north coast of New South Wales in Australia.
Geographically, Byron Bay is at the eastern-most point of mainland
Australia. It is a relatively small town, boosted at times by holiday
makers from around the world looking for perfect beaches, a rain
forested hinterland, and an engaging counter-culture that has been
settling in the area since the early 1970's.
Located in the Byron Bay's "arts and industry estate" in
reference to the many creative artists and crafts people who now
share the estate with the surfboard manufacturers, interior designer
shops and service industries. Colin Heaney was the first artist
to move into the estate, taking over a surfboard factory in the
mid 1980's.
With Colin Heaney's creative process based
around glassblowing, the studio is set up to enable visitors
to watch Colin Heaney and his team working, as well as view the
latest artworks exhibited in the gallery attached. A ‘must see’ destination
for locals and visitors alike.
